Health from the Sea

Algae in the North and Baltic Sea serve as an important, yet rarely used marine bioresource. Algae components, which show a variety of health aiding properties, are fucoidans, typically to be found in brown algae. The 'FucoSan Network' brings together the fucoidan related expertise of the German-Danish cross-border area in a regional cluster. Hereby, the network intends to create the foundations for the commercial use of Fucoidans in the field of Ophthalmology, Tissue engineering and Cosmetics.
